In 2004 Whitmire Micro-Gen joined forces with the Sorex Group, one of Europe’s most respected pest control manufacturing companies. Sorex, headquartered in the UK, acquired Whitmire Micro-Gen from JohnsonDiversey with the intent of creating the world’s largest independent manufacturer committed to delivering innovative and profitable pest management solutions to pest management professionals. The merger brought together two companies with complementary values and product lines. Whitmire Micro-Gen was a leader in general insect and termite control products and equipment, while Sorex focused on innovative technologies and solutions to control mice, rats and birds, primarily within the European market.

Whitmire Micro-Gen was formed in 1995 when S.C. Johnson purchased Whitmire Research Laboratories, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri, and merged the company with another of their subsidiaries, Micro-Gen Equipment Corporation of San Antonio, Texas.

Founded in 1934, Whitmire was noted for its innovative insecticide formulations, Crack & Crevice applications, System III equipment and setting industry standards for education. As a provider of insect control systems, the company was a frontrunner in technological advancements and built a solid reputation in both the structural pest control and horticultural industries - based on innovative products, training programs and delivery systems.

Micro-Gen, founded in 1970, also had a strong reputation built on the history of superior, innovative pest control equipment and customer satisfaction. Their company focus was as a key manufacturer of fogging equipment and bulk pyrethrum chemicals.

Today, Whitmire Micro-Gen is one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of general insect control products and equipment to the Professional Pest Management Industry in the U.S. The core business at Whitmire Micro-Gen is structural pest management where innovative systems of insecticide products and equipment are used to solve insect problems. Whitmire Micro-Gen specializes in the manufacture of aerosols and baits for insect control and are developers of unique, environmentally friendly fly control equipment. We are the leader in the manufacture of ultra low volume fogging equipment and are responsible for the development of microencapsulation technology.
